Digital Signal Processing For Great Sounding Audio

Great Sounding Audio

When music enthusiasts come to Adrenaline Autosound for audio upgrades, one of the items we always talk about is Digital Signal Processing (DSP). These seemingly magical black boxes are simple and efficient in compensating for the challenges associated with installing a high-end mobile audio system. Through our knowledge, training and experience, we can design a great sounding audio system that is optimized to work with a DSP unit to achieve incredible realism.

Time To Listen

Great Sounding AudioOne of the biggest challenges in a vehicle is the location of factory speaker. You are closer to the left speakers than the right – you hear them first, and they seem louder than the right-side channels. Thanks to the signal delay and output level adjustments included in DSP units, we can equalize the perceived volume of each speaker at the listening position. We can also delay the signal coming from the closest speakers so you hear them all at the same time. This makes the music appear to come from a single point in the vehicle for a very realistic musical experience – like listening to a band performing on a stage right in front of you.

Frequency Response

Great Sounding AudioHard surfaces like glass, leather and plastic in a vehicle interior reflect sound waves. These reflected signals can combine to cause resonances that affect how real your music sounds. Some factory radios have preset equalization curves designed for the cheap speakers that came from the factory. A DSP unit allows us to fine-tune the frequency response of the signal going to each speaker so we can compensate for the effect of these frequency anomalies. The result is clear and natural sound that rivals that of the best home audio systems.

How do we do it? We combine our experience with Real Time Analyzer equipment to ensure realism and accuracy.

Set It Up

If you often have more than one listener in the car, or would like a different system tune for critical listening versus driving on the freeway, DSP units can accommodate that with the simple press of a button. Just let us know your goals for the system, and we can deliver when we do the final tuning.

Performance Processing

Great Sounding AudioWe have had some customers ask us if they should spend the money that would have gone to a DSP unit on better speakers. While the quality of the speakers used in your system is critically important, a better speaker cannot compensate for placement or acoustic issues in the vehicle. The best-sounding system for a given budget features a balance of good-quality products, proper installation and expert tuning. Our experience is one of the reasons we are the car audio sound-quality destination in Clayton, North Carolina.
