A client from here in Clayton, North Carolina, brought his 2013 Chevy Silverado to Adrenaline Autosound in search of an audio system upgrade. We carefully listened to the client’s requirements for the system. We started to formulate a plan that would work with how he used the truck. Armed with a clear goal for this Chevy Silverado audio integration project, we provided the client with a quote. He loved the plan and gave us his thumbs-up!
Stealth Front Stage and Subwoofers
We mounted an Audiofrog GB60 woofer in the door and a GB10 tweeter in the factory location. We made HDPE adapters to mount the speakers to ensure they would be secure and reliable. For bass, we chose a pair of JL Audio 13TW5v2 subwoofers. We created a custom enclosure that fits perfectly under the rear seat. The client picked a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX source unit for the system. We integrated it into the dash with a mounting kit and routed the USB port so it would be easy for him to connect his phone. The AVH-4200NEX features Apple CarPlay, so the client can stay in touch and safely receive texts while on the road.
Compact Amp and Processor Installation
The core focus of the build is the unique under-seat location we chose for the amplifiers and DSP processor. The client uses this truck every day to commute and see his clients. His goals for the system were amazing sound quality, and the desire not to sacrifice any floor space.
We used ¼-inch HDPE plastic to serve as the amp rack. The amp rack is secured with a pair of factory mounting bolts. We selected a pair of JL Audio HD series amps for the system. A four-channel HD600/4 powers the front stage while an HD1200/1 feeds the subs. We stacked the amplifiers on top of each other, and made sure they would fit under the seat. As we had the amps in and out of the vehicle several times, we protected them with tesa paint protection film. The next step was to mount a JL Audio TwK-88 DSP processor to the amp rack.
Chevy Silverado Audio System Delivery
The client finally had a chance to listen to his system for the first time. He was stunned at how great it sounded. Additionally, he was shocked how loud it played, effortlessly. He could not believe that we fit so much equipment into the truck without taking up any floor space. He was now able to enjoy his collection of high-resolution audio files on the Pioneer radio. He remarked that each song sounded better than he had ever heard it.
