JL Audio VXi Amplifiers
The VXi series include amplifier solutions for every application. The series starts with the VX600/1i 600-watt and VX1000/1i 1000-watt monoblock amplifiers, two-channel VXi600/2i and the four-channel VX400/4i. Taking a systems-based approach to single-amplifier solutions are the VX700/5i and VX1000/5i five-channel amps, the VX600/6i six-channel amp and the impressive VX800/8i eight-channel amp. We can use a multi-channel amp to upgrade a modest audio system. We can even combine multiple amplifiers to improve the performance of complex factory audio systems that may include an up-mixer and surround processor.
Common Amplifier Features
Every amplifier includes preamp and speaker-level inputs capable of handling as much as 16 Vrms from a factory amp. An optical digital input will accept direct connectivity with digital sources. It can handle 24-bit, 96kHz sampling rate information. All amps include signal-sensing and DC-Offset remote turn-on circuitry to make installation with factory sound systems easier and more efficient.
Each amp can be used with the DRC-100, DRC-200 or the new DRC-205 remote controls to adjust output levels and change system presets (DRC-200 and DRC-205 only).
The amplifiers feature a cast-alloy chassis and bottom plate to help dissipate heat and maximize EMI rejection. The center cap can be rotated in 90-degree steps so that they align perfectly, no matter how we install them.
Digital Signal Processing Features
JL Audio developed the digital processing suite in partnership with AKM – a well-respected manufacturer of premium audio processing solution. Each amp includes a triple-core AKM DSP that allows for incredible precision and accuracy. Using JL Audio’s new TuN software suite, we can adjust signal summing and routing, apply equalization and add filtering to optimize the performance of each speaker in the system. We can add signal delay to create a focused and detailed soundstage in your car or truck. Each amp includes all-pass filters to enhance our system design and tuning options further.
JL Audio will be launching a Bluetooth interface shortly to allow compatibility with Apple and Android smartphones for system fine-tuning using the TuN Express app and the TuN Mobile app for tablets.
For larger multi-amplifier systems, the VXi-HUB allows up to five amplifiers to be connected into a single audio network. This way, we can deliver dozens of amplification channels while maintaining an easy-to-use and intuitive interface.
System Integration Examples
In the past, we would have to use six- and eight-channel amplifiers with multiple stand-alone digital signal processors to upgrade audio systems in BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Hyundai, Audi and Cadillac vehicles with premium sound systems. These complex systems required us to find appropriate mounting locations for all the equipment. We would have to run interconnect cables among the components. The evolution into the world of premium-quality DSP-equipped amplifiers will save us a significant amount of installation time.
